I have a personal trainer and his name is Haydn. Every time I go to the gym for a session, he proceeds to kill me in the most friendly way possible. Some people ask me whether I regret telling him to push me as hard as he could to which I reply, “Hell no!” See the thing is, I actually enjoy dying every time I go to the gym; it means I gave it 110% (although to be honest, anyone who says they give 110% is a liar - it is impossible - and in the word of the great Mr. Buckley himself, anyone who says they give 200% is on drugs).

I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t hurt so much but pain is fleeting and the memory lasts forever; after all, another trainer friend of my gave me a flying body press when I first joined the gym. I’m sure it hurt when it happened, but the memory makes me laugh so merrily that I look like a deranged lunatic who took one too many caffeine shots.

On Wednesday, I was repeatedly pushed past my pain threshold, and I got to the point where I was couldn’t concentrate anymore on what Hayden was saying (poor guy, I responded to everything he was saying with prehistoric grunts) as I was trying not to throw up and pass out on account of all the bright lights that decided to throw a surprise party and the room’s decision to start spinning in a circle with me as the axis. I eventually couldn’t stand up anymore and ended up on my back for ten minutes.

Give me a couple of minutes and I’ll be right again… that’s what I like to say before I proceed with my inevitable march towards another stellar off-screen death…

The funniest thing is, I keep coming back for more… because it’s either fun or they laced something in the water. At least it gives me practice for the fulfillment of my other dream … to have a spectacular on-screen death at the hands of a mass murderer who coincidently had too much sugar that very morning because his niece threw a surprise birthday party for him.

    I think the trick is finding something that makes it fun. I love gym and the feeling it gives me afterwards, so going to gym is never a hard thing for me to do. I also make sure I go three times a week at least so it’s a habitual thing now.
