Song #10 — Saturday, 19 January 2008

song icon Song #10 Saturday, 19 January 2008You ask me to take you home but I won’t / You ask me to take you in my arms but I can’t / I could write to you that I love you but I won’t / I could hold you close to me but I can’t / After all that we’ve been though I’m afraid to get close to you / After all that’s said and done I hope that one day you’ll see that / I am just a man / I am just a man / I could promise you the world but I won’t / Because the simple truth is this / I am just a man / I’m afraid to take from you all these years / I’m afraid that I won’t know what I want / After all that we’ve been though I’m afraid to get close to you / After all that’s said and done I hope that one day you’ll see that / I am just a man / I am just a man / I could promise you the world but I won’t / Because the simple truth is this / I am just a man / After all that we’ve been though I’m afraid to get close to you / After all that’s said and done I hope that one day you’ll see that / I am just a man / I am just a man / I could promise you the world but I won’t / Because the simple truth is this / I am just a man / I am just a man / I am just a man / I could promise you the world but I won’t / Because the simple truth is this / I am just a man.

Song #8 — Thursday, 20 December 2007

song icon Song #8 Thursday, 20 December 2007What is this thing called love? Can someone tell me what it is? / I got this little itch to know, to understand this little quiz that I got inside of me / Thought that I knew it all, doesn’t seem to be the case / I gotta confess the truth, I’ve never ever been in love. Just a game for me and you / My conscious says takes it nice and slow / This love, love, love, love, love / Give me love, give me / Love, love, love, love, love / Make me whole this / Love, love, love, love, love forever / Love you got me, yeah it’s true / My innocence says to me, “Hold on out as long as you can.” / Things happen eventually, just gotta learn to live and let live. I just got a lot to give / It’s understandable thinking over all these things at night / All the possibilities, will they happen? Who knows they might. Who knows what happens if I wait / My judgment says take it nice and slow / This love, love, love, love, love / Give me love, give me / Love, love, love, love, love / Make me whole this / Love, love, love, love, love forever / Love you got me, yeah it’s true / La la la la la la / La la la la la la / La la la la la la / La la la la la la / La / This love, love, love, love, love / Give me love, give me / Love, love, love, love, love / Make me whole this / Love, love, love, love, love forever / Love you got me, yeah it’s true / This love, love, love, love, love / Give me love, give me / Love, love, love, love, love / Make me whole this / Love, love, love, love, love forever / Love you got me, yeah it’s true.

Song #3 — Tuesday, 18 December 2007

song icon Song #3 Tuesday, 18 December 2007Will you be there for me when I call out your name? / Will you reach out for me before I lose my sanity? / Will you turn or will you burn what’s left of me? / Will you be there for me? / What will I do? Will I pull through the rainy day? / Oh I just want some saving grace / Still I hope that I am right when I think that you’ll be there / There to pull me through / Will you be there for me when I am down and out? / Would you ever hold me close and keep me safe? / Would you cry for me and wipe away my tears? / Would you be there for me? / What will I do? Will I pull through the rainy day? / Oh I just want some saving grace / Still I hope that I am right when I think that you’ll be there / There to pull me through / When all is said and done I just need someone to hold me right / Keep away the night / When I am lost at night oh guide me home again / Guide me home again / What will I do? Will I pull through the rainy day? / Oh I just want some saving grace / Still I hope that I am right when I think that you’ll be there / There to pull me through / What will I do? Will I pull through the rainy day? / Oh I just want some saving grace / Still I hope that I am right when I think that you’ll be there / There to pull me through.

Song #6 — Tuesday, 4 December 2007

song icon Song #6 Tuesday, 4 December 2007I don’t know if things will always be this way / Just need a little indication that things will change / Thoughts of yesterday they run on through my mind / They’re like the sun that shines when things become unkind / What happened to the home I knew? / Where did things go all wrong, oh wrong? Just need some saving grace / So why don’t I just close my eyes and hope for a better day? / I’m sure that they will come / I’m sure that they will come / For me / Sitting here alone, my loneliness a friend / Yet I wouldn’t mind if love came around / Photographs on hand, they make me cry inside / What they represent, will I find them again? / What happened to the home I knew? / Where did things go all wrong, oh wrong? Just need some saving grace / So why don’t I just close my eyes and hope for a better day? / I’m sure that they will come / I’m sure that they will come / For me / What happened to the home I knew? / Where did things go all wrong, oh wrong? Just need some saving grace / So why don’t I just close my eyes and hope for a better day? / I’m sure that they will come / I’m sure that they will come / What happened to the home I knew? / Where did things go all wrong, oh wrong? Just need some saving grace / So why don’t I just close my eyes and hope for a better day? / I’m sure that they will come / I’m sure that they will come / For me.

Song #5 — Friday, 30 November 2007

song icon Song #5 Friday, 30 November 2007I may be young, suppose to know what I want / People keep pushing but I know things will come / So what if I don’t have a college degree / None of that matters to me / None of that matters to me / Take away these clothes they don’t mean much to me / Take away these words don’t need to speak to me / After all that’s said and done / These things don’t mean much to me / Five years from now who knows where I’ll be / I may be travelling the world seeing places unseen / Won’t have much to my name, no money or fame / But none of that matters to me / No none of that matters to me / Take away these clothes they don’t mean much to me / Take away these words don’t need to speak to me / After all that’s said and done / These things don’t mean much to me / Take away these clothes they don’t mean much to me / Take away these words don’t need to speak to me / After all that’s said and done / These things don’t mean much to me / Take away these clothes they don’t mean much to me / Take away these words don’t need to speak to me / After all that’s said and done / These things don’t mean much to me / Take away these clothes they don’t mean much to me / Take away these words don’t need to speak to me / After all that’s said and done / These things don’t mean much to me.

I wrote this song with an old friend Cameron Driessen. (You may remember him from the song “Dirty Ways” that we wrote together.) After his stint in America doing his recording, he took a little hiatus back to Australia and we reunited to write a few new tracks.

This song is about stripping away everything so that you stand there naked for the other person so they see your soul. Nothing more, nothing less.
