After signing up at YouTube one year ago to post this performance video of myself and X-Cape, I finally sat down properly last night to look at the community and all the hype that surrounds this phenomenon. More interesting, I was intrigued at how anonymous people from around the world such as Esmée Denters and William Sledd were able to create content on their own accord, upload it to a community and somehow amass the power of this global community to make a name for themselves, firstly crossing over from the internet celebrity status (wasn’t the word internet capitalized at some point in grammar history?) to the inevitable mainstream entertainment world where they continue to make a name for themselves; Esmée Denters as a singer signed up to Justin Timberlake’s record label and William Sledd on NBC’s Bravo unit.

So it was with interest and curiosity mixed with 20% want to learn the ropes of video editing that I looked through YouTube, figured out how to use the video editing software on my computer, and posted my first video on YouTube. After all, if my songs are going to be taking a while to mix in Hong Kong and I’ve still got my studies to concentrate on, why not do something proactive to pass the time? (Not to mention my habit of continually signing myself up to activities at an alarming rate.) The only problem was finding a niche. What was I good at? What could I offer that people might find interesting? Well, I do like to song write… I got it!

I was actually quite embarrassed to post about this because it feel real like a real narcissist doing this but I don’t care, call my a narcissist! In any regards, actually appearing on video has forced me to at least take care of myself better so I don’t look like a dying hunch-back from Notre Dame. I discovered this morning that brushing my hair actually makes me look neater … and after 5 years, I’ve started to brush my hair again. I know one thing for certain, William Sledd would probably not be too happy that I haven’t been brushing my hair.

Do you people not stay up at that time?

Helena on October 3rd, 2007 at 6:44 pm

Yeah, but depends really. Whether I had had a good day, whether I’d stayed up too late the night before on Neopets or PPT….:D

Kym Huynh on October 4th, 2007 at 2:56 pm

Helena on October 4th, 2007 at 6:51 pm

Lolz. The latest/earliest I’ve been up at a sleep over was about a half 3 in the morning.

Kym Huynh on October 4th, 2007 at 11:14 pm

I’ve done that loads of times before. Although I must admit the next day I’m a little bit weirder due to lack of sleep.

Kym Huynh on October 4th, 2007 at 11:16 pm
